Radicom-I Features

Live Tracking
Real-time feedback from vehicles showing vehicle status in different colours and shapes, Driving, Idle, Engine Off, PTO Active Driving, PTO Active Stationary and Poor GPS Satellite Coverage.

Historical Tracking
Plays after a minimum data load, auto scales the map to suite the history track and has slow and fast playback. Can be controlled to play a few minutes in a day.

Reports
Summary, Daily, Detailed Daily, Custom, Power Take Off (PTO), and Combined PTO / Ignition reports available. Note sensor data is reported minute by minute on the detailed daily report.

GeoFence
Designate zones for entry, timed entry and exit alarms - useful for waypoint alerts, delivery arrivals, yard security and situational awareness of fleet activities.

Messaging
Three levels of in-cab terminal messaging: Simple limited text in and out; Complex text in and out; and touch sensitive screen. Support for a range of PDA's, bar code readers, in-cab printer and driver ID systems.

Low Cost
GPRS data packaging telematics allows a greater volume of data to be transferred back to base via an 'always-on' connection at a fraction of the price of GSM technology. Prices between low cost GPRS services will vary depending on your provider.-

Case Study GPRS

Radicom-i | BT Network Rail

BT / Network Rail

The challenge was to be able to collect performance data from signal boxes, transmit that data to a central facility quickly to allow the measurement of the performance of the rail network.

  • Signal box data collection
  • Data transmission
  • Centralised data collection

The challenge was complex because some signal boxes are in remote locations which could not support landline broadband connections. At these locations the ideal methodology was to use GPRS to communicate the performance data back to the Network Rail central facility.

GPRS Modems

Radicom supplied the GPRS modems which were used in remote signal boxes to communicate performance information from locations back to the central system.

Some signal boxes were not only difficult to access with landlines they were also difficult to access on the GPRS network. The solution to this problem was to use special directional antennas in some locations where the GPRS signal strength was poor or where the signal box was very remote. Radicom developed a software system to measure GPRS signal strength from the signal box. This system provided installation engineers with the tools to allow directional antennas to be optimised at each location.

  • GPRS solution
  • Directional antennas
  • Bespoke signal software

All of these requirements need to satisfy BT and Network Rails exacting contract standards including all the standards and methodologies required by such large customers. Radicom supplied special GPRS modems to BT for supply to Network Rail.

vehicle status map

Click to Expand - Radicom-I showing the live track of vehicle fleet assets
The LIVE Vehicle Status Map View is a simple map interface that easily allows for an 'at a glance' snap-shot of what your vehicles are up to.

As can be seen on the map interface here it is very easy to see what your vehicles are doing at any given time. Here we see a snap-shot of vehicles operating in southern England.

daily trip reports

Daily Trip Reports provide basic information on:
start and stop locations
travel time
distance
stop time

More detailed information is displayed in the 'Standard Detailed Report'.

Alternatively, the operator can set up their own custom report to tell them exactly what they need to know.

Pto reports

Click to Expand - Radicom-I Power Take Off (PTO) Standard Report
The Power Take Off (PTO) Standard Report allows the operator to assess what activity a vehicle has done in a given time-scale.

Geofence alert zones

Click to Expand - Radicom-I showing the live track of vehicle fleet assets
Operators can setup designated areas where either vehicle entry or vehicle exit is flagged on the system. The applications for this are numerous - see the features link on the photo for more details.
